Softball Recap: Maple Grove Gets the Win

While Maple Grove's victory against Frewsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Dragons narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bears 6-4. The Red Dragons haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meg Ryan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Dani Trim was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Genevieve Sellstrom also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Maple Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Maple Grove's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Frewsburg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Maple Grove will take on rival Cassadaga Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Frewsburg is set to challenge their familiar foe Chautauqua Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
