Baseball Game Preview: Lane Tech Champions vs. Maine West Warriors

The Lane Tech Champions will face off against the Maine West Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Lane Tech barely beat Richards the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Champions put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-3 victory on Saturday.

Ronan Owens looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Teo Greco was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Henry Murray, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Maine West played against Senn on Monday and won via forfeit.

Lane Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Maine West, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-22.

Lane Tech came out on top in a nail-biter against Maine West when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Champions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
