Recap: Saranac Lake Red Storm vs. Saranac Spartans
The Saranac Lake Red Storm were the 56-45 winner over the Saranac Spartans when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Saranac Lake took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saranac. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Saranac Lake lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb Akey, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Akey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melvin Cirikovic, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Saranac Lake's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Saranac, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Saranac Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moriah at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Saranac, they will head out on the road to challenge Schroon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Schroon Lake has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 245 points over their last four games.
