Football Game Preview: Hickory Hawks vs. Grassfield Grizzlies + How To Watch

Hickory hasn't had much luck against Grassfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hickory came up short against King's Fork on Friday, falling 39-17. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Grassfield and Western Branch faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Friday. The Grizzlies were dealt a 52-6 loss at the hands of the Bruins. The defeat continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost six in a row.

Hickory's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Grassfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Hickory couldn't quite get it done against Grassfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 28-17. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
