Basketball Recap: San Diego's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of four wins, San Diego's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 69-58 to the Christian Patriots. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Cavers still had to take the loss.

San Diego's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Marte, who went 6 for 15 en route to 21 points. The contest was Marte's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamar Smith, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

San Diego's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 18-4. As for Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

San Diego has already played their next match, a 67-64 victory against Olympian on the 1st. As for Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-32 win against Patrick Henry on the 4th.
