Softball Recap: Foothill Finds Home Field Redemption Against Crean Lutheran

There's no place like home for Foothill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Crean Lutheran Saints on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-3 back in March.

Capri Gallego looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makaela Martinez was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Violet Bonnet was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Crean Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foothill will face off against Beckman at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Crean Lutheran, they will take on Brea Olinda at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight.
