Softball Recap: West Johnston Comes Up Short

West Johnston started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Topsail. They fell just short of the Topsail Pirates by a score of 4-2 on Monday.

Faith Chapman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Laney Pearce made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

West Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Topsail, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

West Johnston didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-3 defeat against Midway on the 6th. As for Topsail, they have also already played their next game, a 10-5 victory against Ashley on the 11th.
