Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Myers Park). They breezed past the Hopewell Titans to the tune of 63-8 on Friday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Titans are ranked 163rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ramir Watson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 150 yards and four TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Josh Falzarano Jr was another key player, rushing for 120 yards and one score on only five carries.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Chaz Portis, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Myers Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Justin Westbrook, Tylik Laney, and Ethan Johnson picked up one apiece.

The win (which was Myers Park's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points over those games. As for Hopewell, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Meanwhile, Hopewell is set to challenge their familiar foe Garinger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Zac Jones and Zykerion Pharr.
