Baseball Recap: Shelton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Notre Dame on Monday, Shelton came back down to earth. The Gaels fell just short of the Cheshire Rams by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. The Gaels haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Shelton's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Cheshire, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelton will square off against Fairfield Prep at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Gaels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jesuits have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Cheshire, they will challenge East Haven at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.6 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
