Softball Game Preview: Fairfield Mules vs. Frankfort Redbirds

The Fairfield Mules will challenge the Frankfort Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fairfield played against Eldorado on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Frankfort was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Carmi-White County 4-3.

Autumn Pulliam spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Presley Trogolo was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Reese James was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Frankfort, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Fairfield might still be hurting after the 16-5 defeat they got from Frankfort in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can the Mules avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
