Baseball Recap: Wister Makes It 20 in a Row at Home

Wister took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Rattan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rams on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kord Fenton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jagger Dodson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Wister pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Rattan, their loss dropped their record down to 17-4.

Wister and Rattan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 26th) will meet McAlester (ranked 119th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Rattan will square off against Valliant at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (7 vs. 112).
