Softball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Franklin Road Christian

Zion Christian Academy came out on top against Franklin Road Christian on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Eagles blew past the Minutemen 10-1. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Minutemen: they've now won eight in a row.

Marleigh McWilliams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zion Christian Academy let Bella Waller and Leighla Rains run wild. Waller went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Rains went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Rains has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Willa Hughes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Zion Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Franklin Road Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Zion Christian Academy will square off against Hughes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin Road Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
