Softball Recap: Leeds Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Leeds took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Ashville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Greenwave came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs on Monday, sneaking past 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Greenwave sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Marley Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Indya Rogers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact: Leeds kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Leeds' victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-11. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Ashville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-12-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leeds will host Ramsay at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something the Greenwave will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ashville, they will welcome Etowah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
