Basketball Recap: St. Charles Takes a Loss

St. Charles had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-1 to make it nine. They lost to the Grove City Greyhounds on the road by a 68-52 margin. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

As for Grove City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 71.0 points this season.

Grove City found their leader in sophomore Jacob Saxton, who shot 59% from the field to rack up 29 points. The contest was Saxton's third in a row with at least 18 points. Cohen Doran was another key player, putting up ten points.

St. Charles wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-49 win against Bishop Ready on the 5th. As for Grove City, they have also already played their next matchup, a 65-50 defeat against New Albany on the 5th.
