Basketball Recap: Alexandria City Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Alexandria City extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Springfield Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 62-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

When it comes to explaining why Alexandria City lost, don't look at Kaiden Thompson. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Kaine Canady also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

As for West Springfield, the victory got them back to even at 3-3. The 49-point effort marked their lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

West Springfield can attribute much of their success to Cole Scanlan, who had 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Isaac Heaton, who put up seven points and three steals.

Coming up, Alexandria City will be home for the holidays to greet South County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Stallions will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Springfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
