Leadership Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the South Davidson Wildcats to the tune of 86-43. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 29 points or more this season.
Leadership Academy was led to victory by Landon Burleyson and Caden Ryker. Burleyson went 11 for 23 on his way to 27 points and three steals, while Ryker went 9 of 11 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Ryker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Foster, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.
Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Leadership Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for South Davidson, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leadership Academy and Providence Grove will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Providence Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Leadership Academy likes a good challenge. As for South Davidson, they and River Mill will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. South Davidson is facing River Mill at the right time seeing as River Mill is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
