Basketball Recap: Austin Glasscho's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dreher over Lancaster

Dreher lost against Lancaster last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dreher Blue Devils took a 75-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancaster Bruins. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Bruins are ranked third).

Dreher lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Austin Glasscho, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Glasscho a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marcus Johnson, who had 15 points.

Lancaster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Watford led the charge by going 10 for 15 en route to 24 points and five boards. The matchup was Watford's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Columbus Parker, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Dreher's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Lancaster, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Dreher will face off against A.C. Flora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lancaster, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against York at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lancaster knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 games -- so hopefully York likes a good challenge.
