Basketball Preview: White Plains Wildcats vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles
White Plains has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. White Plains has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, White Plains came up short against the Golden Bears and fell 59-52.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Valley Cubs on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 58-52 victory. The win was just what Jacksonville needed coming off of a 70-44 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jacksonville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deasia Prothro, who scored nine points along with two steals. Prothro hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayci Taylor, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
White Plains' defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Jacksonville, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
White Plains took a serious blow against the Golden Eagles in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 59-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Prothro, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Now that White Plains knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
