Basketball Recap: Quitman County Comes Up Short

Quitman County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 26 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a blow against the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers, falling 71-26. The Hornets lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 37-31 score last time.

As for Pataula Charter Academy, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3. Considering their offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

It was another big night for Kelsie Tillman, who shot 67% from beyond the arc to rack up 37 points and three steals. Those 37 points gave her a new career-high. Kylie Dunn was another key player, going 6-for-10 on her way to 13 points.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Quitman County is set to square off against their familiar foe Stewart County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pataula Charter Academy will face off against rival Miller County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
