Southern School of Energy and Sustainability gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took down the Wake Forest Cougars 47-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jonathan Dillon, who threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Another receiver making a difference was Jayden Bowman, who picked up 119 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alex Pannel and Kamari Holloway. Holloway got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Wake Forest lost, don't look at Micah Olu. Despite the final result, he rushed for 142 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. The Cougars also got a significant boost from Stefen Tabon, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 30-7 defeat against Jordan on the 29th. As for Wake Forest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 35-14 loss against Leesville Road on the 29th.
