Basketball Recap: West Stanly Takes a Loss

After flying high against Central Academy last Friday, West Stanly came back down to earth. The West Stanly Colts fell 71-59 to the Central Cabarrus Vikings on Friday. If the Colts were looking for revenge after losing 59-35 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Central Cabarrus to victory were Myajah Nix and Daniyah Burton. Nix dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 boards, while Burton dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Central Cabarrus is 2-1 when Nix posts ten or more boards, but 2-4 otherwise. Felicity Arevalo was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

West Stanly's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Central Cabarrus, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-5.

West Stanly wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-45 win against East Mecklenburg on the 28th. As for Central Cabarrus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-22 defeat against East Lincoln on the 28th.
