Preview: Springfield Spartans vs. Streetsboro Rockets
Springfield is 0-10 against Streetsboro since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Springfield Spartans will be playing at home against the Streetsboro Rockets at 7:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Anthony Ahern and Charles Ivory.
On Tuesday, Springfield was the victim of a tough 72-50 loss at the hands of Northwest. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Northwest is ranked 201st).
Streetsboro was handed a 21-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Woodridge on Friday. Streetsboro skirted past Woodridge 42-39. The victory was just what Streetsboro needed coming off of a 56-35 loss in their prior contest.
Streetsboro got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ivory out in front who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Ivory hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Jack Batten was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Streetsboro, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.
Springfield couldn't quite finish off Streetsboro in their previous meeting back in January and fell 36-34. Will Springfield have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
