Preview: Monahans Loboes vs. Greenwood Rangers
Monahans and Greenwood are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Monahans Loboes will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Greenwood Rangers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
After a string of nine wins, Monahans' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Seminole 61-55.
Greenwood posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Fort Stockton as Greenwood made off with a 74-48 victory. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while Fort Stockton is ranked 1256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tatum Pierce continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points. Another player making a difference was Reagen Burchfield, who scored ten points.
Monahans' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10. As for Greenwood, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11.
Monahans strolled past Greenwood when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 53-35. Does Monahans have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greenwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
