Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Central Beats Van Buren for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Buckeye Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Van Buren Black Knights on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bucks, who have now won four contests in a row.

The win didn't come easy: Van Buren scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21.

Buckeye Central found their leader in freshman Mayzie Hanlon, who had 13 digs. Hanlon is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Van Buren's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lily Grine, who had ten digs, and Brooklyn Wilkin, who had 22 kills, five digs, and three blocks.

Buckeye Central's victory bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Van Buren, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Buckeye Central and Tinora will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Van Buren does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
