Baseball Game Preview: Fort Dorchester Patriots vs. Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators

The Fort Dorchester Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fort Dorchester 3.9, Greenbrier Christian Academy 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fort Dorchester made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hanahan, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 13-4 victory on Tuesday. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier Christian Academy came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 4-2.

Greenbrier Christian Academy got a great performance from Zach Tew as he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Tew has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Greenbrier Christian Academy let Thomas Conrad and Josh Henkel run wild. Conrad went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Henkel scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Henkel a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Fort Dorchester and bumps their season record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.
