Basketball Game Preview: South Central Falcons vs. Overhills Jaguars

The South Central Falcons will face off against the Overhills Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

South Central took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-17 win over Hertford County. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 60-9.

Meanwhile, Overhills strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 57-51 W against Lumberton. The 57-point effort marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

South Central better focus on containing Najiha Allen and Paris Autry as the pair were huge in Overhills' win. Allen dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards, while Autry shot 64% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Autry is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Gabby Frank was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

The victory got South Central back to even at 1-1. As for Overhills, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

South Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Overhills in their previous meeting back in February, winning 56-49. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
