Baseball Recap: West Boylston Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Boylston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ayer Shirley Panthers, sneaking past 7-6. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered an 8-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

West Boylston's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Ayer Shirley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

West Boylston will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Tahanto Regional at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for Ayer Shirley, they will square off against Gardner at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
