Softball Recap: Fowler's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Fowler's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Porterville Panthers a 5-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Redcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Bradie Monis looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andreya Mendoza, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Bailey Monis was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Fowler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fowler's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Porterville, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Fowler will face off against Madera South at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fowler is facing Madera South at the right time seeing as Madera South is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Porterville, they will head out on the road to square off against Immanuel at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
