Basketball Game Preview: Mountainair Mustangs vs. Alamo Navajo Cougars

Mountainair hasn't had much luck against Alamo Navajo recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mountainair Mustangs will challenge the Alamo Navajo Cougars at 8:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Mountainair took their contest with ease, bagging a 67-34 win over Capitan. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Alamo Navajo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They took down the Mustangs 55-41.

Alamo Navajo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Alamo Navajo, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
