Baseball Game Preview: Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings vs. Williamsburg Raiders

The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings will take on the Williamsburg Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vinton-Shellsburg will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Monticello on Friday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg hadn't done well against Mid-Prairie recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Raiders walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Golden Hawks. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The win got Vinton-Shellsburg back to even at 3-3. As for Williamsburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Vinton-Shellsburg couldn't quite get it done against Williamsburg in their previous matchup back in June of 2025 as they fell 6-3. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
