            Baseball Preview: Lafayette Commodores vs. Oxford Chargers        
        
		
        
        
            The Lafayette Commodores will face off against the Oxford Chargers at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Lafayette will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more  runs each  match than the last.
Lafayette is headed in fresh off scoring the most  runs they have   all season. They came out on top against Lake Cormorant by a score of  11-8  on Saturday.
 Brett Williams looked comfortable as he  pitched one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. That's the first time  he hasn't allowed a single  hit since back in March of 2024.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Collin Waldrip, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those three  RBI gave  him a new career-high.  Ian Mayo was another key player,  going a perfect 1-for-1 with three  RBI and one  double.
Meanwhile, Oxford didn't have quite enough to beat Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Saturday and fell  3-2. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Oxford also got a good showing from  Josh Scruggs, who   pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Ford Wade was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with one  home run. Another player making a difference was  Brady Maloney, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases.
 Lafayette pushed their record up to 4-0 with the  win, which was their fourth straight  at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Oxford, they now  have a losing record of 1-2.
 Lafayette took their  victory against Oxford  in their previous matchup  back in March of 2024 by a conclusive  8-1. Will Lafayette repeat their success,  or does  Oxford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
