Softball Recap: Cordova's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Cordova's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Grant Pacers 16-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Isabella Tarpley-Cruz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Becca Lee was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Izabella Narsisyan was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Cordova always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cordova's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Grant, they dropped their record down to 1-14-1 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cordova will take on Oakmont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Grant, they will square off against McClatchy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Pacers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
