Basketball Recap: Morgan County Skates Past Pike County with Ease

Morgan County won the last time they faced Pike County and things went their way on Friday too. The Morgan County Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pike County Pirates 65-26. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Kymora Smith was a one-woman wrecking crew for Morgan County as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Cydney Burke, who posted 18 points and seven boards.

Morgan County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Sadie Lewis and Kerrah Foster certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lewis scored eight points, while Foster had ten points. Lewis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Morgan County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Pike County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Morgan County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-38 win against Rutland on the 1st. Pike County has also already played their next contest, a 61-12 defeat against Callaway on the 3rd.
