Softball Preview: Walker Wolverines vs. St. Francis Knights
Walker and St. Francis are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2019, but likely not for long. The Walker Wolverines will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the St. Francis Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six losses in a row dating back to last season, Walker finally turned things around against Osborne on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over the Cardinals. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Logan Tyson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and a double. She also put up a hit, which washer first of the season. Evie Bourgeois was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Walker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The last time their OBP was this high was back in August of 2023.
Meanwhile, St. Francis gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past Milton 4-3.
Adi Rose Pawlish made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Pawlish was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
