Jaelen Strong in high school.
Playing at
West Catholic (Philadelphia) under head coach Brian Fluck, Strong was a fleet-footed 6-foot-4 receiver.
In those days he went by Jaelen Strong-Rankin. He went the junior college route, enrolling at Pierce College before committing to Arizona State on Christmas Day in 2012.
He certainly made his mark during his time at West Catholic, however. Going up against some up Pennsylvania's top programs, Strong demonstrated the ability to both out-jump and outrun opposing defensive backs.
Strong closed his high school career in style, catching two passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns to help lead West Catholic to a Class AA state title.
