Recap: Saxony Lutheran Crusaders vs. Chaffee Red Devils
The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders won the last time they faced the Chaffee Red Devils, and things went their way on Thursday too. Saxony Lutheran strolled past Chaffee with points to spare, taking the game 56-41. Given Saxony Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Chaffee is ranked 440th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saxony Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from John Hartmann, who scored 26 points along with six assists and two steals. Hartmann hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Eggemeyer, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Saxony Lutheran's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.0 points per game. As for Chaffee, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Saxony Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-41 victory vs. Oak Ridge on the 9th. Chaffee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
