St. Mary came tearing into Wednesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mount Mercy Academy Magic a 22-0 shutout. That looming 22-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lancers yet this season.

Lauren Payne was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Danielle Spiegel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Mary's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

St. Mary's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Mercy Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
