Baseball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

Estancia fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Costa Mesa on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Estancia got a good showing from Lincoln Silva, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Silva has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Estancia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Humphries, who went 2-for-5 with one triple. Jacob Ramirez was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Estancia has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Costa Mesa has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estancia will face off against Century at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Century will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Estancia surely won't give up without a fight. As for Costa Mesa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orange at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Orange's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Costa Mesa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
