Baseball Recap: Steinmetz College Prep's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

The matchup between Steinmetz College Prep and Bogan on Wednesday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Silver Streaks were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Bengals. The victory was some much needed relief for the Silver Streaks as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Luis Jose Batista Taveras made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Steinmetz College Prep is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-20 otherwise. Batista Taveras was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Steinmetz College Prep got a massive performance out of Karol Nowak, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Nowak a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Flores, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Steinmetz College Prep's record now sits at 6-21. As for Bogan, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.

Coming up, Steinmetz College Prep will challenge Northtown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.64 runs per game on average), something the Silver Streaks will no doubt try to take advantage of. Bogan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
