Softball Recap: Wayland-Cohocton Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayland-Cohocton). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Penn Yan Academy Mustangs a 22-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Wayland-Cohocton's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Penn Yan Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Wayland-Cohocton will venture away from home to challenge Dansville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.33 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
