Basketball Game Preview: Cheyenne Wells Tigers vs. Eads Eagles

Cheyenne Wells has won four straight games at home, while Eads has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Cheyenne Wells Tigers will welcome the Eads Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cheyenne Wells challenged Wiley on Saturday. Cheyenne Wells claimed a resounding 40-11 win over Wiley. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Panthers are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheyenne Wells' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Roxy Unruh, who posted 11 points, and Paige Ryser, who earned six points in addition to nine steals and five assists. Ryser is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Scheimer, who scored nine points.

Cheyenne Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Eads over South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Eads blew South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] out of the water with a 58-25 final score. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Cheyenne Wells has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Eads, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.

Cheyenne Wells came out on top in a nail-biter against Eads in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 49-47. Will Cheyenne Wells repeat their success, or does Eads have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
