Basketball Game Preview: St. Brendan Sabres vs. Northwestern Bulls

The St. Brendan Sabres will face off against the Northwestern Bulls on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Brendan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They strolled past Jackson with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Sabres as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

St. Brendan can attribute much of their success to Claudia Luis, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Bella Perez, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Northwestern waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They breezed by the Conchs to the tune of 60-21. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

St. Brendan better keep an eye on Myah Newton. She was instrumental in Northwestern's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Newton is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Tayana Dixon was another key player, putting up six points along with ten boards and three steals.

Northwestern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for St. Brendan, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
