Owen had won five straight games and Ava Grant did her part to make it six on Thursday. The Warhorses came out on top against the Polk County Wolverines by a score of 3-1 with plenty of help from Grant, who had 20 aces, eight digs, and seven kills. She has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last seven times she's played.
Owen had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-16.
Leading Owen to victory were Avery Boone and Payten Brockman. Boone had 13 digs, while Brockman had six digs.
Owen was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 30 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces every time they've taken the court this season.
