Preview: Watseka Warriors vs. Hoopeston/Armstrong
Watseka is on a seven-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Hoopeston/Armstrong a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Watseka Warriors will take on the Hoopeston/Armstrong at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Watseka was beaten by Momence 36-7. Watseka was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-0.
Meanwhile, Hoopeston/Armstrong had to suffer through a rough 47-16 loss at the hands of Westville. Hoopeston/Armstrong was down 47-10 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Although Hoopeston/Armstrong took the loss, they still got scores from Ayden Larkin and Kollin Asbury.
Watseka's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. Hoopeston/Armstrong has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Watseka was taken down by Hoopeston/Armstrong 52-12 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Thankfully for Watseka, Anthony Zamora (who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 132 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
