Baseball Recap: Avon's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

There's no place like home for Avon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Mount Morris Blue Devils on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Braves as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Brady Driscoll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trevor Stroud, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Connor Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Mount Morris, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon will square off against Le Roy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount Morris, they will face off against Warsaw at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
