Softball Game Preview: Greencastle Tiger Cubs vs. Cascade Cadets

For the second straight game, Greencastle will face off against Cascade. The Tiger Cubs will welcome the Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Greencastle: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Cascade has snatched up 16 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Greencastle's offense. They fell just short of Cascade by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Tiger Cubs were not able to get on the board.

For Cascade's part, not much got past Lacie Godby, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Greencastle off the board. Godby has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cascade's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Gibbs, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Cascade's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Greencastle, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Greencastle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts.
