Basketball Recap: East Bladen Drops Highest Score of Season Against East Columbus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Bladen). They blew past the East Columbus Gators 73-48 on Tuesday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 22 points or more this season.

East Bladen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from NeNe Ward, who went 10 for 17 on her way to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Ward has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Smith, who went 9 of 17 en route to 19 points and eight boards.

East Bladen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, East Columbus still got an impressive performance from Malia Graham, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Mckenzie Spivey also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

East Bladen pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.5 points. As for East Columbus, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.

East Bladen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-17 win against West Columbus on the 29th. East Columbus has also already played their next contest (against South Columbus), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
