Mitchell took  a  three-set  defeat the last time they faced off against Jefferson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Kernels had just enough and edged out the Cavaliers  3-2. The  win was nothing new for the Kernels as they're now sitting on six straight.
 Mitchell was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 27-25,  15-8.
Leading Mitchell to victory were  Cassidy Korzan and  Londyn Hajek.  Korzan  had nine  digs and two  aces, while  Hajek  had 14  digs and one  assist. Those  14  digs gave  Hajek a new career-high.
 They weren't the only good servers: Mitchell  was lethal from the service line and  finished the match with 13  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least five  aces in nine consecutive  contests.
Mitchell's record now sits at 12-4. As for Jefferson, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Mitchell will  face off against  rival Watertown  at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Jefferson is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Huron  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
