Softball Recap: Byron-Bergen Comes Up Short

Kendall hit Byron-Bergen with a nine-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bees fell 14-9 to the Eagles. The Bees have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Lily Stalica was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. Stalica was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lauren Gartz was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Janessa Amesbury was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Byron-Bergen now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Kendall, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Byron-Bergen will head out to square off against Caledonia-Mumford at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kendall, they will face off against Elba at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
