Volleyball Recap: Campbell Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Campbell had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Walton Raiders on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2020.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 25-9.

Leading Walton to victory were Ella Cobb and Janie Myers. Cobb had 18 digs and three assists, while Myers had eight digs and two aces. Cobb is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Coming up, Campbell will square off against Lassiter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Pope on the 9th.
